STUMPED ON DECORATING A ROOM?

Here are some simple step-by-step tips:
 1. Don't go shopping without a plan. You don't have to be an architect or an interior designer to draw a floor plan. Sketch out the room (c'mon you can draw a rectangle!),draw where the doors & windows are & the walking patterns you would have.
 2. Stand at the main doorway to the room, where does your eyes lead you? This is the focal point. There should be something interesting in this area. Maybe something functional & decorative at the same time.
3.Jot down your most needed furniture first. You can then draw them in your floor plan (rectangles for sofas & media cabinets, squares for chairs & circles or squares for accent tables). The furniture layout should create conversation areas. And if you're on a budget, choose designs & acolor pallette that is classic & neutral. Trends come & go.
 4. Accessorize! It's really decorative accessories that makes a room come alive. They are not as pricey as furniture, so you can even change them from time to time & doesn't have to be always classic & neutral. But don't hurry when accessorizing, choose items that are conversation pieces. Maye you got them from interesting travels or your favorite flea market (or your favorite shop for urban cottage decor maybe? The Inglenook Decor). Whatever it is, go for something bold. Don't follow what everybody else is doing & give your space life & personality...yours.
Be Creatively Chic,
